What is aromatherapy? It smells nice? Can synthetic fragrances be labeled aromatherapy? The chemistry of essential oils make them naturally antiviral, antibacterial, stimulating, antidepressant, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, tonics, the list goes on and on and a pure essential oil can be found for virtually every ailment.

The mind is very powerful and stress is a number one killer. Pure essential oils help with emotions as they can energize one, or help to calm one down.

In this article I’d like to focus on the skin.

Skin problems are often a result of deeper conditions, be it a hormone imbalance, toxins in the blood, emotions or adverse reactions. Essential oils are very powerful, in fact one drop of an essential oil is equal to 30 cups of tea, and should never ever be used directly on the skin with the exception of a select few, lavender, chamomile, tea tree and sandalwood. Pure essential oils added to the bath is a no-no because they sit on top of the water and don’t mix…oil and water don’t mix! Essential oils should always be diluted whether in oil, salts or bubble bath when used in a bath. Essential oils are fat-soluble and that is why when diluted and put into body care products they are safe to use. When you put a lotion onto your skin, the skin absorbs it and the molecules enter into the blood stream. Products made with synthetic ingredients and toxic fragrances also enter into our bodies. Choose a product that helps to strengthen the immune system when choosing body care. After all, your body has enough work to do without having to rid it of more toxic chemicals.
